Re: Docket No. 05-035-54, Sale of PacifiCorp
Dear Commissioners;
The Emery County Board of Commissioners would like to express our support for the planned purchase of PacifiCorp by MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company.
We believe this purchase will be beneficial for the citizens of Emery County, as well as those of the State of Utah. MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company has a history of commitment to maintain sufficient operations and front-line staffing to provide adequate and reliable service in light of load and customer growth.
Commissioner Kofford met with Mr. Gregg Able President of MEHC andA. Richard Walje, Executive Vice President and found that some of the possible benefits of the purchase would be:
● PacifiCorp and MEHC have similar priorities, customer service, operational reliability safety, community involvement, environmental stewardship and renewable energy development.
● MidAmerican knows the electric utility business and its electric utility has earned numerous customer satisfaction awards. In fact, it was ranked Number One in its region for residential, commercial and industrial customer satisfaction in year 2004.
● This Transaction provides PacifiCorp with long-term stability and access to the capital resources necessary to fund sustained investment in the electric system PacifiCorp will continue existing economic development practices as well as use MEHC’s experience to maximize the effectiveness of these efforts.
